Superb original lithograph signed and numbered by Yves Brayer. A great painter of the early 20th century, his taste for graphic design naturally led him to practice the techniques of copper engraving and lithography. As a result, he created numerous prints and illustrated limited edition books with texts by Blaise Cendrars. Yves Brayer also created wall decorations, tapestry designs, set models, and costumes for the Théâtre-Français, as well as operas in Paris, Amsterdam, Nice, Lyon, Toulouse, Bordeaux, and Avignon. His solo exhibitions made his works well-known in many countries, starting with Paris and then spreading throughout France, Europe, and the United States.
In 1977, the National Library of France organized an exhibition "Yves Brayer, Engraver" for his seventieth birthday, and the Museum of La Poste in Paris dedicated an exhibition to his works upon the release of a stamp in 1978. He was honored in 1993 by the Museum of the Thirties, and his centenary was celebrated in 2008. The first Yves Brayer museum was opened in 1960 in the honor hall of the town hall of Cordes-sur-Ciel. Since 2006, his works have been part of the collections of the new museum of modern and contemporary art located in the beautiful gothic house known as "du Grand Fauconnier," alongside works by Picasso and others from the André Verdet donation.
Finally, a Yves Brayer museum was inaugurated in 1991 in Les Baux-de-Provence, in a mansion from the end of the century, near the chapel of the White Penitents that he had decorated a few years earlier.
