Painter, engraver and lithographer born in 1928 in Mulhouse and died in Mulhouse in 1999. Son of Joseph Simon and Marguerite Wanner. In 1942, he was a student at the Mulhouse School of Drawing and benefited from the advice of Paul Weiss.

Léon Lang introduced him to lithography, but he can be considered self-taught. He also trained as a surveyor in the City of Mulhouse. From 1963 to 1990, he taught at the Mulhouse School of Fine Arts where he set up serigraphy, engraving, typography and lithography workshops. In the summer, he taught lithography courses at the Scuola Internazionale di Grafica in Venice.

From 1973 to 1980, he was in charge of the art history course at the Faculty of Arts in Mulhouse. He was president of Art Contemporain Mulhouse, president of the European Biennial of Engraving in Mulhouse, member of the Salon d'Automne since 1949, of the Painters Engravers "Le Trait" in Paris, member of the Independent Artists of Alsace, member of the Committee of the Society Godefroy Engelmann de Mulhouse. Many study trips to Provence, Italy, the Netherlands, Greece and frequent stays in the Alps. First exhibition in Mulhouse in March 1948 and Strasbourg in October, at the Maison d'Art alsacienne where he returned in 1954, 1955 and 1976.

Retrospective exhibition at the Bibliothèque-Médiathèque de Mulhouse in 1975. Exhibition at the Librairie Landwerlin in Strasbourg in 1960 and 1964. Other exhibitions: Colmar in 1975 at the municipal library, Epinal in 1981, Moutier (Switzerland) at Galerie 31 in February-March 1981, Cossonay-Gare (Switzerland) in May-June 1981, in Germany in Saarbrücken (Galerie Elitzer) in 1966, Lörrach in 1977, at the Hans-Thoma-Museum in Bernau in July 1981, Dusseldorf (Galerie Hedi Poltrock) in October 1981, in Italy, in Venice (Galerie d'Arte Segro Grafico) in August 1977, in Messina in October-November 1979, in Udine in April 1980, in Rome in February 1982, in Basel (Switzerland) in 1979 and 1982. He also participated in numerous group exhibitions throughout Europe, up to Norway, and in Spain.

He participated in the Salon des Indépendants in Paris since 1949, in the Salon d'Automne (since 1949), in the Salon de la Nationale des Beaux-Arts and Estampe Contemporaine at the Bibliothèque Nationale (1973 and 1978), February-March 1993 at the Bibliothèque-médiathèque de Mulhouse. Last exhibition in Badenweiler at Schlossplatz in July 1999.

Simon's oil works are presented at the Museum of Fine Arts in Mulhouse, at the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Strasbourg, at the Town Hall of Didenheim (sketches; oil and litho), his engravings at the Cabinet des Estampes of the municipal library of Mulhouse, at the University National Library of Strasbourg, at the Cabinet des Estampes of the National Library of Paris, at the Library of Colmar. Superb original lithograph in black and white.
