(provenance: Estate of Painter Maurice Génis). THE FRAME IS NOT FOR SALE BUT IT ALLOWS YOU TO SEE THE WORK IN SITUATION. Guy Bardone was born on. After studying at the Lyon School of Fine Arts, he entered the School of Decorative Arts in 1945 where he received teachings from Brianchon.

In 1950, he met the critic George Besson. Who encouraged and advised him. The critic dedicated a biography to him in 1970. In 1952, he won the Félix Fénéon Prize. And began exhibiting in various salons and group exhibitions, notably in 1947, at the. He was selected in 1953 for the important group exhibition Celebrities and Revelations of Contemporary Painting, at the Musée Galliera in Paris. He first participated in the School of Paris exhibition at the Charpentier Gallery in 1954. In 1957, he received the Greenshields Foundation Prize. Vlaminck, Dunoyer de Segonzac and Villon were part of the jury. From 1957, he exhibited at Contemporary Painting (Moscow), Marlborough Gallery (London), Findlay Gallery (New York), Morgan Knott (San Francisco), Wildenstein Gallery (London). In 1969, he joined the Taménaga Gallery (Paris/Tokyo).

Numerous retrospectives have been dedicated to him (Château de Chenonceau, Musée d'Albi. Guy Bardone's drawings, watercolors, and oils radiate with color, as if imbued with the artist's many travels. The sensuality emanating from his work is expressed in the brushstroke, the thickness of the colors, worked with a knife and brush. It is a joyful, warm, optimistic, generous art. Resolutely figurative, it recalls, through its sincerity, its love for nature, and the happiness it exudes, the art of Pierre Bonnard.

To whom Bardone held an unconditional admiration. Published in 2000, more than seven hundred works are listed, including lithographs.

Bardone also created several tapestries. He also illustrated bibliophile works, signed by Marcel Aymé, Colette, Kessel, Montherlant.. His works are kept in important private collections in Europe, the United States, Japan...

and in many museums: National Museum of Modern Art (Centre Pompidou, Paris), Fine Arts Museum of the City of Paris, Fine Arts Museum of Nantes, Moderna Museet (Sweden), Artothèque in Besançon. He is still presented at the Tanaka Gallery in Paris and the Artioli Findlay Gallery in Long Island (USA). In 2008, the Guy Bardone-René Genis Foundation Museum was inaugurated at the Abbey Museum in Saint Claude. It brings together the important collection gathered by Guy Bardone and his friend René Genis.

Many works by Pierre Bonnard. The works of the two donors are also exhibited in this museum. 1947: Salon des Moins de Trente Ans, Paris. 1955 and 1975: Marcel Guiot, Paris. 1960 and 1964, Findlay New York.
