LEE Hang Sung (né en 1919). Voici une belle lithographie originale p ar l'artiste coréen. L'oeuvre est signée au crayon en bas à droite et est numérotée "4/30" en bas à gauche. 38,5 x 29 cm. Lee Hang-Sung (Korean, 19191997) began his career as a painter and became interested in printmaking in the 1950s, holding his first solo exhibition of polychrome lithographs in 1951.

Lee contributed to advancing printmaking as an art form in Korea and was a core founding member of the Korean Printing Association in 1958. In 1959, his lithograph Dajeongbulsim (Compassion) won an award in the International Printing Biennial, organized by the Cincinnati Art Museum. As the field grew over the next decade, a number of Korean printmakers saw their work gain international attention, and by the 1980s printmaking had become an important genre of Korean art. Lee held a number of solo exhibitions: in Manila and Taipei (1960); Seoul (1962, 1970, 1972, 1975); Stockholm, Paris, and New York (1974); and in Vienna and Paris (1977).

His work was also included in group exhibitions internationally. Lees work is held in the collections of the Gothenburg Museum of Art, Bibliothèque Nationale de France, the Bonn Town Hall, the Saarbrücken Town Hall, and Koreas National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art.
